Halia Abdel-Meguid is a writer and musician based out of Los Angeles. A New York City native, she trained in London at ICMP and LAMDA. She is a 2018 graduate of the American Film Institute.

Abdel-Meguid’s first foray into television was through music. She provided most of the vocals on Murray Gold’s score for DOCTOR WHO during the Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi eras, and was the singing voice of the Siren in the episode “Curse of the Black Spot”. In 2014, she wrote and sang an original song for NBC’s promotion of HANNIBAL.

Abdel-Meguid's written work focuses on the fantastical, the macabre, the long-forgotten, and the unexpected. For her feature script MONSTERS OF PHILADELPHIA, she received the 2018 Sloan Fellowship and won a place in the 2018 Black List Lab. Previous staffing gigs include Hulu’s THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY and Netflix’s THE TALISMAN. She is currently writing and executive producing an adaptation of DEATH NOTE for the Duffer Brothers and Netflix.

Halia’s interests include etymology, Byronic heroes, anti-heroines, sinister folklore, '80s fantasy flicks, shounen manga, historical cookbooks, Chopin, early crime scene photography, Gothic literature, and mafia movies.

She is represented by Rain Management Group and Paradigm Talent Agency.
